Gia Sastre, originally from Miami, Fl., graduated with highest honors with a Master of Music in Flute Performance from DePaul University and a Bachelor of Music from Florida State University. Her teachers have included several of the world’s most distinguished flutists including Eva Amsler, Charles Delaney, Louise Dixon, Stephanie Jutt, Anita Rieder, Christina Smith, and Mary Stolper. In addition, Gia was the recipient of a Jeanette Humphress endowed music scholarship that allowed her to pursue a resident course of study in the United Kingdom with Paul Edmund-Davies, principal flutist of the London Symphony Orchestra. Gia is a 2006 Musicians Club of Women Farwell Award winner and performs with chamber groups, new music ensembles, and orchestras throughout Chicago.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 



A
nnLaura Tapia, originally from Lafayette, IN., studied with Alice Chalifoux at the Cleveland Institute of Music. She continued her studies under the tutelage of Judy Loman at the University of Toronto and the Royal Conservatory of Music, Toronto, where she received her Performance Diploma. While still a student, AnnLaura had the distinct honor of playing for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II of England, at the request of Canadian Prime Minister Jean Chrétien. AnnLaura also took First Prize in the American Harp Society Competition, Toronto, and was awarded the highest scores for her graduating recital at the Conservatory.
